They say that in optimum conditions, a Kudzu vine can grow up to a foot per day. They also say that in Mississippi the highway division intentionally planted this imported invasive attack-plant in hopes of controling erosion.

So what does the Kudzu growing on the side of the road in my childhood home state have to do with motorcycles?

You be the judge.

It all starts out as a good idea- say, for instance, to introduce a plant that will help solve a problem. Then, one thing leads to another, and it gets away from you. Next thing you know, you have a truckload full of CB350s.

Thanks to Martin's ebay auction, I came home from Society Hill South Carolina with 3-5 more CB350s, depending on what you count as a motorcycle. It was one of those situations where I figured I would toss out a bid that I thought was too good to be true, but in the end it was actually quite true indeed. It took both of us about a half an hour to get everything loaded up. The grand total included one mostly complete 1971 CB350 (Red), Two 71-72 range bikes that were about 70% complete, two frames, one engine, four tubs of parts, a few more parts, a big pile of paperwork, and the assurance that I won't have to be looking for any project bikes in the coming decade.

The Red one is in the best shape, though it has a 400cc modification to the engine. The green one is in excellent cosmetic shape, and in fact it is quite a bit better than my other CB when it comes to chrome and paint. The yellow one is the worst off it seems, with a frozen engine and no kickstand.

I think that I have enough parts to justify at least two more CBs out of these 5, and maybe 3 more. The rest are spares and scrap. If anyone out there needs any CB350 parts, please let me know! I'm a little bit short on side covers, but as you can see I've got quite a few other things.

The tubs are primarily sorted by contents.

I wish I hadn't just spent $16 on a headlight bulb. Now I have 6. I also have quite a collection of gaskets and points. I think the plan is going to be to start with an engine. My other CB is leaking oil from the seals, just like the 175 did. I think this time I'll use one of these engines to rebuild a replacement, rather than losing all of the fall riding season again.

My storage area is looking more like a very poorly kept Honda showroom. Hopefully soon I'll be able to get started on building a more suitable workspace.
