Corvair/Falcon Open HouseHere are some pictures of the open house at Falcon Automotive on the Sunday before OSH. Falcon is the shop that William Wynne uses to machine cylinder heads for the conversion engines. It was interesting to see the huge pile of cylinder heads in progress, and even a fuel injected corvair. I had not knowingly seen a Corvair car before, and there was also one of those at the shop.Larry Hudson was especially helpful as he gave me and others a "crash course" in how to get a core and what to look for. Below you can see a display engine with the newest 5th bearing, and all of William Wynne's goodies. The last picture below is of his points/electric dual ignition system in contrast to the dual points setup. One day I may convert a Corvair for a Pietenpol or other such plane. |
